Proposals to host the South Asia Summer Language Institute (SASLI) are currently being accepted for 2011.
The South Asia Summer Language Institute is currently hosted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison through the 2010 summer session. Although The University of Wisconsin would be willing to keep SASLI, the Board of Trustees is required to invite institutions to host the South Asia Summer Language Institute for a minimum of three summers. Universities eligible to become the host institution must have adequate human and physical infrastructure to administer the program and undertake summer language offerings as well as a firm university commitment to support of SASLI. The host institution will ordinarily, but not necessarily, be a South Asia National Resource Center. Notification to shift from one host institution to another will take place at least one and a half years prior to the change. During a transition between host institutions, the staff will overlap at each location for one year to ensure continuity in the program.
Please submit a proposal that addresses the following issues:
1. Staffing plan for operation of SASLI
2. Physical infrastructure to house SASLI office, courses, and instructor summer offices
3. Technological support for instructors and students
4. Housing plans for instructors and students
5. Letter of support from the Host institution’s university administration
Deadline to submit this proposal is August 15, 2009
